Many GTA houses still carry a chimney from a coal or oil furnace that was replaced decades ago, or a fireplace nobody has lit since the 1980s. It still needs caps, flashing and repointing to stay watertight, which is money spent on something the house doesn't use.
Most owners remove the stack above the roofline: we take the chimney down below the roof deck, frame and sheath the opening, and tie in the roofing. A full removal, down through the house, frees floor space but involves interior demolition and structural checks, so we quote it after a visit.
